Plastic Storage Locker

What is a Locker?

They are the everyday lockers you see at high schools, universities and the gym rooms. You keep your belongings inside these lockers, with safe; usually pad lock or key.

Steel or Plastic Locker?

Steel is a common material for making storage lockers. Although being more sturdy and hard than the plastic counterparts, they do have a few disadvantages. However, metal or steel have disadvantages when it comes to pricing. For example, a plastic storage locker is always cheaper than a metal one. Metal lockers can also rust easily, if not made from stainless steel.

Fortunately, technology today has made many things possible with plastics. Plastics are everywhere and is becoming a commodity. Plastics today are blended with polymers that form strong types of plastics called heavy duty plastic.

Four to Six Tier (1 Section)

A tier means how many lockers there are in a row. If it is 4 tier, that means there are up to 4 lockers being stacked, vertically. They are made of high density polymer, the polythylene (or PE). Advantage of using such plastics or polymer is the ability of the locker to withstand corrosion and rust. They are also well suited for environments with high "water" or moist level (where metals are not suitable because metal ones will rust easily). Making them very common in gym rooms and health clubs. The typical dimension (of one locker) is 12 inches (height) x 12 inches (width) x 18 inches (depth) with a common weight of 115 pounds. The door and frame are 1/2 inches thick. At that thickness, it is very hard to bent and damage. While the shelves are 3/8 inches thick. Of course, the door hinges are still made of aluminium metal, for security.

Plastic Double Tier Locker (3 Sections)

This means there are 3 plastic lockers in a row. Double tier means there are two rows, giving you a 3 x 2 arrangement. A common dimension of the individual locker is 12 to 15 inches (width) x 18 inches (depth) x 36 inches (height). For a 2 x 3 arrangement, they are usually 280 pounds. Their standard door and frame thickness is 1/2 inch while the shelves are at 3/8 inch. Inside this bigger plastic locker, there are hooks for hanging clothings. These lockers are also ventilated. Same as above, these bigger lockers also have locks for security.
